Productions made in Bradford includes Billy Liar, Room at the Top, The Dresser, Yanks, The Railway Children, Rita, Sue and Bob Too and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, and the list goes on... We continue to welcome tv and film companies with their star-studded casts on a regular basis and you can find out more about the UNESCO City Of Film status by clicking here.
UNESCO World Heritage Site
Saltaire is a complete, well-preserved industrial village and a very important part of England's industrial heritage. Built by Sir Titus Salt in 1876, the village still remains in its original form and is still inhabited by industrial workers today. Built on the River Aire, the village takes its name from its founder and the river. Follow the trail and ponder the vision of this great industrialist.
The Brontes
The world famous writers of the classic novels Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte were born in Thornton, Bradford before moving to the beautiful Pennine village of Haworth, on the outskirts of the district. The Bronte Parsonage Museum is today a very popular literary shrine for thousands of visitors from across the world. Haworth is perfect for a team trek, finishing with tea and scones in one of its many fine tearooms.
National Media Museum
Located in the heart of the city centre, this fabulous museum is devoted to film, photography, television, radio and the web. 3D films are regularly screened on the five-storey IMAX screen and there are gallery spaces, exhibitions and numerous annual film and animation festivals. The two other auditoria, Pictureville and Cubby Broccoli show films you won't normally find at your local multiplex. Read the BBC news, have a team photograph with a Darlek or play Space Invaders in our Games Lounge. You won't find this anywhere else in the UK.
UK Curry Capital
Bradford has probably the largest choice of Indian restaurants in the UK and is well known and often considered the 'Curry Capital' of the UK. Officially crowned in 2004, Bradford’s rich mix of top restaurants makes for a tasty end to a busy, team building day!
Europe's Largest Water Feature
The City Park will feature the mirror pool, the largest city centre water feature in Europe. This unique feature will reflect and showcase the Grade 1-listed City Hall and set Bradford apart, attracting visitors from across the UK. The pool will be drained to host large concerts, carnivals, markets, sports events and theatre productions for up to 10,000 people. The pool will contain over 100 fountains and have light, sound and mist effects - making it look different each time you visit. To open in summer 2011.
Bradford has a very unique culture, character & charm... making your visit a truly Great Experience.
